Harbour Square Owners are currently only allowed to speak at monthly Board Meetings AFTER the votes have been taken.
If the purpose of the Board is to represent the Owners, they should be allowed to speak before the voting occurs. The reason for the relatively small turnout at the monthly meetings may be because Owners don't feel they can effectively speak their opinions there.
For example, the Board was voting on whether to approve $85/month for web site hosing for http://HarbourSquareOwners.com when an Owner, one who is familiar with web site pricing, raised his hand. He was told that he must only speak AFTER the meeting.
After the meeting, he informed the Board that the going rate was $10 per month, for 50 Megs (more than enough) and all the necessary features. His company even offered Harbour Square a free web site, but his offer was declined.
It was too late to influence the vote, and the Owners of Harbour Square ended up paying over 8 times what they needed to. This is a relatively small expense, about $1020 per year, but...
It leads us to wonder...How many times has the Board approved expenses that were up to 8 times what should have been paid?
